Dates

  • Start Date: Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at 9:00 AM EST.
  • Submission Deadline: Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at 9:30 AM EST.
  • Judging Period: Sunday, March 31st, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST.
  • Winners Announced: Sunday, March 31st, 2024, during the Closing Ceremony starting at 4:00 PM EST.

 

Eligibility

  • Open to high school, undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates within one year of graduation.
  • No specific experience in Machine Learning or AI is required; basic knowledge from first-year introductory computer programming coursework is sufficient.
  • Teams must consist of 2-4 members. Cross-participation between in-person and online participants is not permitted, unless you have the organizer's permission on a case by case basis.
  • All participants must agree to the Hackathon Code of Conduct upon registration.
  • Mentors are welcomed from undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as industry professionals. Prior hackathon experience is a plus.

 

Project and Submission Requirements

  • Projects should aim to address at least one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Submissions must include a detailed write-up on Devpost, explaining the project's inspiration, the technology stack used, and a summary of the product.
  • A link to the project’s GitHub public repository must be included in the Devpost submission. It is important that the GitHub repository does not contain commits before the start of the hackathon.
  • Teams are required to prepare presentation materials for judging, although these DO NOT need to be submitted in advance.
  • Originality is key. Projects must be new creations specifically made for GenAI Genesis 2024.

  • Best AI in Finance

  • Best AI in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Best AI in Accessibility
  • Best Virtual Hack

Detailed prize information will be announced during the opening ceremony and updated on the hackathon’s Devpost page.

 

Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Impact on Sustainable Development Goals: Effectiveness in addressing issues related to one or more SDGs.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Novel use of technology in solving problems.
  • Technical Quality: Execution quality, including the choice of tech stack and architecture.
  • Working Demo: The functionality of the prototype, showcasing the key features.
  • Presentation: Clarity and effectiveness in communicating the problem, solution, and impact.
  • A panel of industry experts, sponsors, and educators will judge each project. Winners will be determined based on aggregate scores.

 

By participating in GenAI Genesis 2024, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these rules and guidelines. The organizing team reserves the right to disqualify any participant or team for violating the rules or any conduct that is deemed inappropriate or contrary to the hackathon's spirit.
